More Summer Crammin'

Since it's just the hubs and me, and it was such a lovely evening, we decided to take a bike ride into town after dinner and get some ice cream.  Then we just plunked ourselves down on the dock and enjoyed the lake for a good long while.

Because that's how you do summer.

Cramming Summer

The day started off with a nice long walk... my first since surgery.  Then, it was Mommy/Daddy time.  YAY for canoeing!!!  HOW I needed this!!  There were quite a few bugs, and quite a few downed trees, but... oh to be out on the water in the summer again.  YES.  After a delicious (if I do say so myself) home-made dinner, Rob said "the day is not over yet!  I have one more surprise for you!"  That surprise was a ride into town on our bikes.... with a stop for strawberry lemonade ;).  What a great, beautiful day.  THIS is summer.  THIS is what I've been missing all along, and THIS is how I hope we get to enjoy the remaining short days we have left!!  Kids may be having a blast at grandma and grandpa's house, but finally, so are Mom and Dad!  P.S.  I'm in desperate need of a pain pill right now, but it was SO WORTH IT.  You can tell by how often I am using CAPS and exclamation points in this post!!!

Off to Grandma and Grandpa's

Given that I was off work sick for three months earlier this year, and THEN got appendicitis and had an appendectomy last week... I do not get to go visit my family in Washington this year.  Boo.   The pity party is in full swing over here.  But that doesn't mean the kids can't enjoy some quality grandma and grandpa time.  So Rob and I drove them down to Chicago, and flew them out, sans parental supervision.  They made it safe and sound, and are very excited about this new adventure!!!

A Birthday Party

The boys' friend Ally had her 13th birthday, with a theme of pastel/flower unicorns.  Not what you'd expect a bunch of boys to enjoy... but you'd be wrong ;).    I'm glad the boys have a nice bunch of close friends that they enjoy so much.  Makes me feel so much better about their foray into teenager-hood!!
