Father Son Float Trip

Colby and Rob floated the North branch of the Otter River with a friend and his son.  It was one of the few nice days of summer thus far, and they reportedly had a fabulous time.   Here's to sun and warm weather, and fishing, and spending the night in a tent!   Here's to father-son memories that will last a lifetime!! 

FINALLY, a warm day.

Summer thus far has been disappointing, weather-wise.  Today, for the first time, we hit over 80.  Actually 87 degrees to be precise.  Which was FABULOUS.  Had to take the kids to the beach, because who knows how many of these nice days we'll get before the snow flies again.

Run Or Dye

My friend Beth and I travelled to Marquette, MI to participate in a color run.  If you've never done or heard of a color run before, you're in good company.  I had no idea what we were getting in to.  Basically, you run a 5k while people throw colored powder at you, and turn yourself into a colorful holy mess.  Given that my daily existence is a mess, I wasn't sure if I'd really appreciate this or not.  But you know what?  It was GREAT.  We had so much fun.  And, despite training virtually not at all, both Beth and I made fabulous "middle-aged-women" time and ran the whole way.  Very proud of us!

First nice day of Summer 2014, so it was just perfect.  Afterwards, we went to Presque Isle Park where Beth went swimming in Lake Superior and I observed.  No dummy here - I SAW the ice chunks on Lake Superior not two weeks ago.  That water had to have been cold.  After a lunch al fresco with a fabulous view, we drove to the top of Mount Marquette and enjoyed a lookout.  Beautiful beautiful beautiful.  I never new Marquette had so much to offer.  Seriously.  When we typically go, we never seem to make it past Lowe's and the Border Grill.  Time to start being a tourist in our own backyard, methinks.

Home sweet home

Well, the middle child is finally under our roof again, safe and sound.  I missed him!!  I asked him if he missed us, and he answered (brutally honest) that he really didn't have time to think of home.  Soooo.... no.  He didn't miss us.  Whatever.   I'm glad he had fun.  He came home with a shiner [pillow fight gone awry], a rope burn [obstacle course gone awry] and someone else's shirt.  Apparently he had ALOT of fun.

Camps....

Quinn is gone for the week at Gitche Gumee Bible camp.  Colby has spent the past three days at Science camp.  I haven't seen Quinn (he comes home tomorrow), but I can vouch for Colby that he is having a FABULOUS time!!  Rockets and Roller Coasters - how could he not? 

Now to get that other boy home.  I've missed him!!!
