Soccer

It's that time of year again!!!  SOCCER!!!!  Go WHITE (they have yet to come up with a team name!).  Both the coach and assistant coach were gone for the first two games, as well as 5 team members, which means MAMA AHO was coach to a very under-manned team.  And we lost, both times.  But I'm sure once all the players get back, and all the coaches get back... White (hello, team name!) will pull it together and shock everyone with their awesome soccer skills.  Go WHITE (really need a team name!)

Memorial Day

We spent  cold, rainy, wet Memorial Day at the grave of Rob's grandparents with Mim, Pops and cousin Jennie.  We didn't last long outside the car, but did do a little grave-caretaking, and watched the veteran's ceremony.  We owe much to those who went before....

Feast Day Fun: The Ascension of the Lord

Today, forty days after Easter, is the Feast of the Ascension.  This feast takes on a dual meaning this year, as it is not only commemorating Jesus ascending to Heaven after the resurrection, but Rob "ascending" to the sky for his trip to Alaska.  Rob is taking this celebrating the liturgical year thing a bit too literally, methinks.  Anyways... for his last supper at home for awhile, we had chicken (because chickens have wings that fly), farafelle pasta (wing-shaped), strawberries (since Christ was the first-fruits of the risen), salad (because we need greens), and champagne/sparkling cider (because bubbles float up!)  With Mim and Pops Aho there to celebrate with us, we read about the Ascension in Acts before heading to the hangar, just in time to see Rob fly up, up and away.  Safe travels, hubby!!!  Godspeed!

Date Night

Rob got me a gift card to a Chinese restaurant for Mother's Day, so tonight we used it.  So nice to just enjoy some time together.  After dinner, we drank tea and chit-chatted til well after closing (seriously.  They flipped the tables over all around us and everything, and it didn't occur to us that they were trying to leave!!).  Then we went for a short hike on a nature trail, and chit chatted some more.  This weekend marks the 20th anniversary of when Rob and I met for the first time, so it was a great time to reminisce.  20 years together... 19 of them (almost) as a married couple.  Lots of ups and downs, but here we are.  We've built a good life together, me and this man.  We are very blessed.

Robotics, spring edition

Between track and soccer and organ and piano and squires and school and LIFE.... robotics decided to throw in a spring scrimmage.  The Snobots did a great job, and Rubik performed as he should.  It's fun seeing these kids and their robot.
