Memorial Day... The Rest of the Story

We spent the evening at Rob's folks' house having a barbecue with family and friends. The weather was PERFECT, and the kids had a great time swimming. AHHHHH, summer. I love it.

Car Wash

First day of summer break, and it's a gorgeous 75 degree day. The boys have been well-behaved and productive today: started by reading a few books, then went on a "photo scavenger hunt" (see their new blog in the sidebar), cleaned their room without me having to scream myself silly, and then washed both Rob and my vehicles. Good boys! Hope our entire summer is JUST LIKE THIS. Reagan was such a little helper washing the cars, too. Incredibly cute seeing her walk back and forth to the bucket, and then scrub scrub scrub.

Kindergarten Recap

As a "parting gift", the boys' teacher sent a CD home with all the pictures she took of them over the past school year. What a neat idea! Here's the recap of the boys' Kindergarten year.....

Kindergarten Graduation

Oh, wasn't it just yesterday they were born? And now here they are, one minus his front tooth, graduating from kindergarten. It doesn't help that everyone around me at the graduation was saying "oh, tomorrow it will be highschool graduation." Don't SAY that! It's going by too fast as it is!! When the teacher introduced the kids as the class of 2022, I just about fell off the bleachers. I had never stopped to figure out what class they'd be in before. 2022. Holy cow. The boys did great, I was proud of them. They were two of five kids with individual speaking parts. Our deer in the headlight children actually did just fine, and spoke clearly into the microphone! Good job, boys. Oh, weepy mom, who wants to keep her little ones little, while at the same time wishing they were old enough to take care of themselves. How does that work?

The Good Dog

FILE0012, originally uploaded by mamaaho.

Morgan's a good dog. She's my running partner, she's a watchdog. She drags a few deer carcasses in the yard on occasion and barks it up during a full moon, but overall, a really good dog. Good girl, Morgan

The Experiment

Rob and I are trying a little experiment. Last year, we planted a miniature garden, from which we gleaned lots of gritty lettuce, a few misshapen carrots, and exactly TWO squash. THIS year, we're going full-scale. We both have serious doubts as to whether or not there will be any actual produce grown in the patch of dirt out back, but... well.... it's worth a try. And it's kind of fun digging around in the dirt. Rob's had lots of fun on the tractor, too. The Ahos trying to be farmers. When I can't even keep a cactus alive. HA! We will see how all this goes!

Heat Wave

May 23rd, and 90 degrees, bay-beeeee. Woo Hoo!! I LOVE IT! It's warmer now in May than it was the entire summer last year. The lupines are already blooming, and that's typically a 4th of July thing!!! Went to the beach (there was a crowd!), then the kids ran through the sprinklers for a bit before our barbecue outdoors. Rob grilled up the fish the boys caught yesterday. Nothing like working for your own dinner. Idyllic summer day, and it's not even summer yet. Did I mention that I LOVE IT??? I do. I love it.
