The Great Wall

For the third time, our retaining wall is being rebuilt, block by block.  Not a fun job, but necessary.  Something's got to hold up all our weeds in the front yard!  Rob and Reagan have wrestled with this job for a few weekends now, and it's turning out great!

She's a builder, that one.  She's been that way from the get go.  

Feast Day Fun: Michaelmas!

Michaelmas is one of our favorite feasts to celebrate around these parts, because dragons.  And swords.  And blackberry angel food cake.  We said the prayer of St. Michael and read in Revelations about the ousting of the devil from heaven.  We talked about angels, and spiritual warfare and all good things.

Teenaged Apple Cider Making Hangout Session

The boys have been wanting to invite their friends over to make apple cider, so that's what they did this past weekend.  The weather was beautiful, and the jumped on the tramp, listened to music, climbed apple trees, ninja-sliced apples in mid-air, played apple baseball, and made a TON of fresh, delicious apple cider (and a holy mess).  I literally ran out of containers to put all the cider in, and one kid had to make an emergency call to his dad to bring over half gallon sized jars.  Everyone went home with a jug or two.  Good stuff, apple cider.  And good stuff, apple cider making parties!
