Highschool Winter Band Concert

I know I say it all the time, but I really am impressed with the sound these kids make!  They sounded fabulous!  Now that they're in high-school and performing with the older kids, they have grown.  We thoroughly enjoyed listening to them!

Christmas Baking

Man we will be ahead of the game this year, thanks to Grandma!!  Pretty sure these cookies aren't going to make it all the way to December 25th, though....

… or Skipbo.  We've been playing a lot of Skipbo while my parents are here.  Every Aho has now learned the game.  Including Gunner, but I think he's cheating by showing his cards to Quinn.  

Feast Day Fun: Feast of Christ the King

A little twist in our celebration of the Feast of Christ the King this year.  Instead of celebrating with themed FOOD, we celebrated with themed DRINK.  Mostly because, after spending all weekend decorating for Christmas, there was no time to go to the grocery store, and we had to scrape together something appropriate from what I had on hand.  And what I had on hand was the makings of a Rex Regum, (literally "King of Kings").  I have to say.  It was delicious.  Even the virgin versions the kids had.  Really, really delicious.  Viva el Cristo Rey!

Decorating for Christmas

With Grandma and Grandpa here, Christmas decorating is SO MUCH EASIER and goes SO MUCH QUICKER!!!  I felt very "ahead of the game" with all the extra help!!!  How I love having things decorated this time of year!!

 

The Great Amelia Earhart Book Report Project

Reagan read a book on Amelia Earhart for school, and now has to portray her for the book report.  There was no way that Reagan was going to "be" Amelia Earhart without an airplane.  As such, grandpa and Reagan set to work creating Earhart's Lockheed Vega, in which she crossed the Atlantic.  They're a good team, these two!

One thing they can count on when they come to visit us in the Yoop at Thanksgiving, and that is SNOW.  We aim to deliver in that department!  How Reagan loved to have someone to sled with for a change!

Black Friday

The kids, Mom and Dad and I got up early to hit the few stores we have available up here in the great white north.  I think shopping is a little different than in Washington... my parents couldn't believe how FEW people were there.  It was deader in the stores than it would be on a typical Tuesday night.  We had the place to ourselves.  Afterwards, Reagan gave mom a foot bath and us girls did pedicures!
