Feast Day Fun: Michaelmas

 As per our family tradition ("Wait, Mom!  Is it Michaelmas already?  Again"? ) we made our dragon rolls, and had our angelfood cake with blackberries on top.  This year, Colby made a concerted effort to memorize the St. Michael prayer, which was great!

A Parade

 We saw this parade advertised, with  a note just to show up and participate.  We had no idea what to expect.  Holy. Cow.  Over 600 cars, including several logging trucks, this parade stretched for miles and miles and miles, and lasted for over 2 hours.  There were thousands of people lining the streets waving and smiling from Houghton to Hancock, to Lake Linden and Calumet and back.  This has been such a tumultuous year, it was great seeing all these people out there waving their flags and enjoying the beautiful fall day.  Once we started, this line of vehicles stretched from Hancock, across the bridge, and all the way to Houghton .  We could see each other across the lake.  Crazy!

There were a few protesters, which is what is great about America.  Everyone can express themselves peacefully (even if a little crassly).  

Fall Flying

 Rob is one lucky dude, to get to see the Yoop from a perspective very few do... especially in the fall.   The views from up there are spectacular!

Middle School Cross Country

 Reagan beats her time every race she competes in.  Good job, little girl!  So proud of the sisu she has shown this season in Cross Country.

Cross Country Injuries

Quinn thought his quad was all better.  Then he started running and realized... nope.  Still not better.  He made it half way before he had to limp out with the support of a friend.  Sheesh.  It's not easy keeping these boys in one piece!
