Cub Scouts Fire Hall Tour

Great fun tonight at the fire hall, touring with the Wolf Cubs!  Those "volunteer" firemen are awfully committed to keeping people safe!

A New Skill

Half day of school today for the boys, so we used our time learning how to sew!  Both boys made pillows, and did a fine job.  The fact that there's an acceleration pedal and a sharp needle makes the whole process seem daring to little boys, I think.

Pinewood Derby

Preparing for the pinewood derby was definitely a family project this year.  Rob cut out the shape and applied weight/wheels, mom taped, and the boys sanded/ painted/stickered.  The result?  Colby won first prize in his den, third place in the pack!  Reagan was a competitor in the sibling race this year - something she was very excited about.  She "repurposed" a car from last year.  Building THREE cars for one race was a little much for this "family project".   We'll see how energetic we are for next year ;).

Belated Christmas Train

As is our cheap resourceful tradition, we decorated a gingerbread train this year well AFTER Christmas.  See, when the kits are 75% off at Walmart.  Because it's candy and COOKIES.  Who cares if they're a little stale.  Certainly not this crew!!

Happy New Year!

It's our tradition to go toboganning on Christmas day, but there wasn't quite enough snow this year.  Luckily (can't believe I just typed that), a blizzard hit this morning, so there was plenty of snow to enjoy!  The boys got sleds from Grandma and Grandpa Aho for Christmas as well, so we were definitely outfitted to ride!  Happy New Year to one and all!!

This is a picture of Colby and Quinn, although not OUR Quinn.  This is a random Quinn he met about 30 seconds before this picture was taken.  I think the kid is Colby's soulmate - they were like glue the entire time, throwing snowballs at each other, sharing rides, and hitting each other on the helmet to see who could feel it more.  You know - the 7 year old boy equivalent to asking for a phone number.    And he didn't even have to learn a new name!

Reagan has a need for speed.  We worried that she'd be afraid of sledding.  NOPE.  Kept popping off at the bottom of the hill, and saying "another one????".   Little girl's a sledder!  Far more into sledding than she was ice skating, that's for sure.
