When I asked months ago how she wanted to celebrate her graduation, she told me "nothing big. Maybe a bonfire and volleyball in the back yard." I can handle that, so that's what I planned for. The night BEFORE said grad party, Reagan went to a friend's grad party, and came home with her jaw dropped.
"She had a coffee bar, a boba drink bar, an ice cream maker to make your own sundaes, an actual photo booth...." All the fancy things, in a rented pavilion at the park. "What did you have planned again for my party, Mom?"
Uhhhhhhh.... volleyball in the back yard? And the stuff to make your own burrito, like ordered?
Suddenly, Reagan was a little concerned about this plan.
"What about tables. Where are people going to sit to eat?"
I wasn't planning on tables, to be honest. I had some chairs that I was going to place around the fire pit, and figured people could eat sitting on the grass. Because this was a "hang out in the back yard, no big deal" party. Reagan decided to take over.
"I sent a text to my friends, asking if we can borrow tables. Get the air compressor, I will help you decorate with balloons." She went into overdrive to make the back yard somewhat party-presentable.
A little stressful in the set-up phase, but overall, a lovely time, and everyone seemed to have fun. We could not have asked for better weather, given how glum the spring has been thus far.
