HoCo Fair

The fair was fun, crazy, and overwhelming.  We spent it with friends this year, which was enjoyable for all of us!  Hard to get pictures of young men who were "off on their own" much of the time (except when it was time to eat).  But Reagan represented. 

Summer

Nuthin' says summer like flying onto a beach with your Dad and grilling your dinner at sunset.  That's something not every kid gets to experience.  Lucky kid.

Feast Day Fun: St. Maximillian Kolbe and the Feast Assumption

Colby's namesake feast day today, so he got to choose dinner.  His favorite is Asian Chicken Balls and homemade plum sauce, so that's what we did.  Maximillian Kolbe was an amazing man, and his story is well worth remembering year after year.   Initially, I wanted to spell Colby's name Kolbe, but Rob insisted we spell it like the cheese and not the saint.  Oh well.  It's grown on me ;).   Colby is now our resident expert on all things Maximillian Kolbe, which is very fitting.    Tomorrow is the Feast of the Assumption of Mary, so we also had white-chocolate blueberry cheesecake.  Because white = purity, and blue = Mary's signature look (there's a reason she is always represented in blue, I just don't remember it off the top of my head!). 

Why yes, he did change his clothes half way through dinner.  Don't ask me why.  I really can't explain it.  But it does explain why my laundry is never-ending.

Coolest. Neighbors.Ever.

We are very blessed to live where we do.  We have the best neighbors.  Really.  All of them are just fabulous.  The newest neighbors down the street just happen to be Reagan's reading teacher from last school year, and the boys' tech/gym teacher from school.  And they own the most gorgeous Norwegian Fjord horses.  Reagan accosted Mrs. Meyer while she was on her run by our house, and reminded her of that time, several months ago, when Mrs. Meyer happened to mention in passing that maybe Reagan could ride her horse sometime this summer.  Reagan's mind is a trap when it comes to things like that.  She will NOT forget.  And she will apparently hunt you down to make sure YOU do not forget, either. 

Luckily, the Meyers are incredibly kind, patient people, and gave not only Reagan, but Quinn and Colby a ride on their horses, too.  So cool.  The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  And the kitten.
