Hanging with the fourth child

 Maria is in town for spring break, and I tried to keep up with her.  We started with tennis, and then went cross country skiing immediately afterwards.  Given that I have a broken toe, I decided to sit ski with her rather than stand ski.  That was not easier or less painful than stand-skiing with a broken toe, by the way.  I will be sore on the morrow.  That part is guaranteed.  

Band Festival

 The Houghton Gremlin Band does amazing things.  It is filled with talented students and conducted by one amazing music teacher.  They score all "1s" every year (the highest score possible) and get all kinds of great feedback from professional judges.  Good job, Gremlin Band!

Battle on the Ice

 Playing sled hockey with Division I athletes, even if they are TRACK athletes, is a whole lot different than the friendly little scrimmages we normally have around here.  Holy Cow, was it intense.  But super fun!  These people are athletes in every sense of the word, and the competition was fierce!  

Upper Peninsula Track & Field Clinic

OH what an incredible day this was!  We invited the University of Michigan Adaptive track team and paralympian Amie Day to come teach our yooper kids the sport of adaptive track and field.  Michigan Tech donated their indoor track, Portage sponsored our lecture venue and t-shirts, Border Grill sent us lunch, volunteers came from the ISD, tMTU EMS services, the CMU DPT program; everyone just came together to make it a fantastic day.  It. Was. Perfect.  All the planning and stress, and it came together without a hitch.  SO many smiles  So blessed to be a part of this community.
