The kids and my parents got the snowmobile out to have some fun. We certainly have plenty of snow for it. But, because that's just what happens with these things... the snowmobile got stuck. Like... REALLY stuck, in a drainage ditch. And then it took hours for them all to get it out. Rob finally had a throw a winch around a tree to extricate the thing. See how fun snowmobiling is????? The snowmobile got put away, immediately after the rescue. Surprise surprise.
Reagan took these pictures, and I think she did a fabulous job :)
My first foray out of the house post-surgery and into public was to a steak house, where my parents took the family before they left for home. My mashed potatoes were FABULOUS - thanks for asking. How I love these people!
Santa spoiled us. Rob and I were once again up first this year, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the rest of the family, while they dozed to the unseemly hour of 6 am. Grandma and Grandpa were next, followed by Quinn and Colby, and finally... Reagan. Reagan, whose bedroom door is six inches from the Christmas tree. The same little girl who insisted that she sleep with the door open to catch Santa in the act, somehow slept through the ENTIRE rest of the family getting up before her, and gathering not so quietly right outside her door. Silly girl!!
My favorite night of the year - Christmas Eve. Made extra special this year, because my parents are here to share it with us. I love that Christmas Eve is all about CHRISTMAS. Not presents. Not a rosy-cheeked elf. It's about Silent Night, and a baby in a stable, and beauty, and stillness, and aching grace. I love every last second of this night.
