Some things about Quarantine I want to remember

I didn't get any pictures of these things, but I still want to remember them, so I will put them right here, my external memory.

• Colby, Reagan and I  walked the runway behind our house at 10:30 pm last week, set up chairs, and watched the meteor shower til the wee hours of the morning.  At first, we thought the meteors were satellites, but then realized that there's no way there were that many satellites, and satellites don't flare up and then disappear like these did :).  The cat followed us out onto the runway, and had a grand time being "nocturnal" with company.  At around 11 pm, Father Ben, Father Dustin, and about 30 college students arrived in a long parade of cars (everyone drove separately to socially distance), and everyone set up their little germ-pod camps to watch the meteor shower with us.  It was the most social thing we've done in weeks and weeks, and it was so fun to hear laughter and conversations under the great starry sky.  It was such a beautiful, clear night.  
• Reagan and I spent one evening doing "spa treatments".  I gave myself a facial and pedicure, and gave her a facial.  Reagan played with all my make up.  "Normally," she said "I hide it from you when I play in your make up because I think you'll get mad."  I'm not ready for her to be all dolled up - she's much too young - but I remember playing with my mom's makeup when I was little, too.  I told her I wear makeup  so my skin looks more like HERS - hers is naturally beautiful.  But still.  It was a fun mother-daughter evening, and I didn't want it to become self conscious by taking pictures of it.
• Reagan and I have been playing catch a lot lately.  She's really in to softball, and it makes me sad that she won't be able to join a softball team this year, the first time she's interested in a sport outside of rock climbing.  She's doing really well for never having worn a mitt before!  We play catch, I've taught her how to throw and bat.  I tried to show her how to throw a ball to herself by tossing it up onto the roof of the garage, but it went over the peak and got stuck in the tree branches on the other side, and that was that.  It would be fun to make up a 5 person softball game and play it as a family.  I need to get on that.
• Rob and I are still taking our nightly walks, and it's been very good for both of us.  It's just some excellent alone time, in a time when we're otherwise never alone.  We vent and ponder and plot, and Gunny goes along with us and has done very well following along without a leash.  He listens better than the children. 

Quarantine continues.  We don't know how long.  We are surviving well and consider ourselves extremely blessed during a time that is so hard for so many people.  

Finally.... Spring. After six weeks of quarantine.

There may be a little bit of pent up energy.

A Spring Hike

Reagan, Quinn and I went hiking to Douglas Houghton Falls and Hungarian Falls today, because it was a beautiful day, and we have spent much too much time indoors of late.  We followed Katie and Roger there to Houghton Falls, since we had never been, but branched off on our own to Hungarian falls.  So lovely to in nature, in the sun (it still exists!)  We had such a nice time!!

How the Mamas Get Together During Quarantine

We still have to sneak out of bed before everyone else at 7 am on a Saturday to do it... that part hasn't changed.  Just the commute's a bit shorter, and there are no doughnuts involved.  Still just as necessary for mental health though!

Socially Isolating in the Air

Rob is LOVING this social isolation stuff.  The farther he is away from crowds, the happier he becomes.  This pandemic is a godsend for Finnish engineer/pilots.

Other pilots don't count as "humans".
