Memorial Day

The Pole Vaulter

All of Quinn's track meets were either out of town or on nights that I worked late except THIS, the very last one.  I was super proud of the kid.  He was competing against all upper classmen, and the bar always started higher than anything he had cleared before (9'6"!).  But he went to every practice,  competed in every meet, gave it his best effort, and got better each time.  I love his Sisu.  Good on you, Quinn.  He plans on joining again next year!

Little Flowers

 Little Flowers is wrapping up for the year.  We will unfortunately be gone for the Mother Daughter Tea this year, but we sure do enjoy this group of girls!  Looking forward to next year!

Preparing for Memorial Day

I believe this is our 9th year helping the Marine Corp put flags on the vetrans' graves in preparation for Memorial Day.  This year was cold and rainy... again.  That seems to be the Modus Operandi on this weekend every year.  We got an old section of the cemetery this year, which made it a little more challenging to find the graves, but super cool to see those who fought in the Civil War and the Spanish American War, as well as World War 1.  Colby's friend Adeline joined us this year, and didn't think it was weird at all, this tradition of ours ;).  

Old Calumet Field Trip

Fourth graders from the tri-county area descended on Calumet to tour the town and do activities, hosted by the National Park Service.  This was such a well-organized, informative, and interesting field trip, and the kids were so well-behaved,  I know I enjoyed myself immensely, despite the rain ;).

Adventure Camp

Reagan has been participating in an after school adventure camp with a friend.  Day 1 was rock climbing, and apparently, the little spider made it all the way to the top several times - the only kids able to do so.  Of course, she has super long limbs and NO mass whatsoever.... she's kind of built for rock climbing.  Day 2 was log rolling, which led to lots of skin abrasions but was super fun.  Day 3 was kayaking, and Day 4 was a high ropes course.  I had to work through most of her sessions, so didn't get photographic evidence of anything until the last day, but she reportedly had a ton of fun, and was super sore afterwards.  That means camp was good!

Mother's Day May Crowning

This was the inaugural Mother's Day May Crowning with our Women's group, and it was such a nice way to spend the afternoon!  We hit 5 churches, crowned Mother Mary at each with flowers, said a decade of the rosary, and the progressed on to the next place.  The weather was fantastic, we had a fabulous turn out, and it was just plain lovely.

And afterwards, we celebrated with ice cream!!
