Basketball Camp
YEAH! After years of ONLY a girl's basketball camp, MTU finally started the inaugural Little Huskies boys camp. Turn out was huge, so I'm hoping they continue it in future years!

Saturdays 'Round Here
It's that time of year again. Fall. Temperatures fall. Leaves fall. Rain falls. The world prepares for the white stuff, and summer flits away with the geese. ((Heavy Sigh)) Fall - the time of year when critters decide to take up residence once again IN MY BEDROOM. I have been woken up not once, not twice, but THREE times this past week by... wait for it.... a mouse running across my head. Yes. And then there was this swimming in the toilet today as well....
Being the seasoned veteran that I am, there was no screaming. This is pittance compared to last year, where critters included a vole, a bat, a chipmunk, and multiple squirrels. Mice?? A chippie in the crapper? Bah. No big whoop. Instead of hysterics, I calmly informed my husband that it's time to do his husbandly duty, and start de-crittering the house. Because, even though Reagan goes on and on about how CUTE they are, and no one else around here seems to mind in the least... it's really actually pretty gross. A gal must have limits, and mine have been crossed.
In other news, Quinn went to work with Daddy today, and Colby went to work with me. It was fabulous being able to spend one-on-one time with a son. We actually talk to each other when twin siblings aren't around. We have actual, real-live conversations, and not merely "mommy-nagging", and "son-back-talk". Very refreshing. Colbs and I spent the day at an Autism Family Fun Day working the registration table, and Quinn and Dad hit themud mine reclamation site. Reagan spent quality time with grandma and grandpa. Afterwards, we went to the boys' soccer game.
Fun day all the way around!

Take Your Son to Work Day
Dad decided to have Colby help him at work today. Labor-laws be darned. The job was MADE for Colby - run around in the mud and muck all day. He could handle that. Might even be inspired to follow in the old man's footsteps, since he knows now that dad gets to play around in the woods all summer long!

Mama's Baby Growing Up
I already whined yesterday about the children growing up, so I won't do it again, even though it's all I can think about. Reagan -- my BABY (sniff sniff)-- started preschool today. Far worse than turning 40 is the fact that I no longer have infants, no longer have toddlers. I have spent the last 8 years of my life identifying myself as a young mother of young kids. And now... I am a middle-aged mother of medium-sized kids. Even my BABY is in school. I told Rob it was time for another, but let's just say that THAT didn't go over so well ;).
Reagan loves her school, loves her backpack, loves her lunchbox, and loves the fact that her brothers are nowhere in sight. She picked flowers for her new teachers today. It was darned cute. I had to convince her to leave at the end, because she honestly thought she was moving in... and was just fine with that.
Oh, sweet, sassy, sparkly little girl. Growing up so fast!!!

He Finally Did It
Robbie's been threatening to do it for three years, ever since Little Miss was born. He's been DYING to take her up flying. Mommy has been nixing the idea since day one, but tonight... well... it just happened. They were going to taxi on the runway, the plane firmly on the ground. That's what I was told, at least. But she apparently was doing just SO WELL in the back seat there, that he just had to do it. He flew. She flew. They flew. Up up and away, over the Keweenaw peninsula. It's a good thing I didn't find out until she was home safe and sound in bed, as I'm sure I would've been a nervous wreck.
The man made a point of saying, upon their successful return... "She was the perfect co-pilot. She wasn't scared and she didn't GET SICK". UH. Okay. So. Well. In my defense...my stomach is FAR more sensitive than a three year old's!
Proof they were in the air. This is Daddy's current work site - building a river and moving the mine tailings outta dodge.
Kickin' it as Co-Pilot.
Rob just combined his two favorite things on the planet.... his plane and his daughter. Doesn't get much better than that!
First Day of Third Grade
I swear they were just babes in arms. JUST babes in arms. Like, the day before yesterday. Yesterday we were at the beach enjoying the last day of summer, so it had to have been the day before yesterday that I was changing diapers and rocking them to sleep at night. Where did these huge boys come from with their size 4 feet and adult teeth??? Good grief. THIRD GRADE. A quarter of the way to highschool graduation.
A moment of silence please, while the mother grieves.
