Happy Thanksgiving

No, not Rocky Balboa, just our son Colby, whose face had a close encounter with the floor after accelerating the distance from his top bunk. The carpet won. So our Thanksgiving started out with a trip to the Emergency Room for stitches. Luckily, you can't see the INSIDE of his mouth, which is much gorier than the outside. We returned to the doctor's office today, as mom thought that gray puss coming from the inside-the-mouth wound was a bad thing, but apparently, that's normal healing for mucuous membranes. Learn something new every day!

Other than that, our Thanksgiving was very nice, with Mom and Pops Aho joining us, as well as our friends the Sommervilles. Jason was playing my piano, noticed a rattle, and found not one, not two, but THREE small cars INSIDE the piano, requiring the removal of certain parts to retrieve. Needless to say, the piano sounds ALOT better now that it doesn't come with it's own percussion section.

And lastly, we have a picture of our little girl Reagan, wearing her festive "My First Thanksgiving" onesie (that's not pink! WOW!) that cousins Matt and Liz gave her. Too cute.

Independence

I know you all are probably sick of seeing pictures of my children dressed up as superheros, but... it's my blog and I think it's cute. Anyways, the big developmental milestone of the day was that THESE very same superheros made their own lunches! Grilled cheese sandwiches! Before you think I'm too reckless of a mother, allowing them access to the stove, I should explain their culinary technique. Each boy put their bread in the toaster, got a slice of american cheese out of the fridge, put it all together, and zapped it in the microwave. Since I wouldn't allow use of a can-opener for tomato soup, they decided to dunk their sandwiches in ketchup. YUM YUM. Afterwards, I asked them to put any leftovers in the garbage and put their dishes in the sink. I found two of my good plates in the garbage, and the crusts from toasted cheese sandwiches in the sink, but... they were close! My little boys are growing up.

Christmas?

Having a new baby sister has some unexpected benefits. Today, Quinn and Colby got THREE presents... just for being big brothers! WOW! Katherine's card said it all... "Enjoy your book, and BE NICE TO YOUR SISTER!"

Fresh as a Daisy

A gal has to have her hats. Reagan had a bath today, and felt fresh as a daisy, so wanted to try on some of her many hats!

Prince Colby and the Shark

One day, Prince Colby was walking along the seashore, when he saw a big QuinnShark. Being a nice boy, Prince Colby offered the shark some fish to eat. The Shark tried to eat Prince Colby's hand. Thanks alot. Good thing Prince Colby was wearing chain mail at the time.

Grandma's Last Day

We needed SOME kind of wearing-out, nap-inducing-yet-memory-making activity for little boys today. They have not slept in past 5:45 am since Grandma Betty's arrival, it seems. So the agenda for the day included a trip to a local hotel pool. The boys learned more in five minutes in a WARM pool with grandma than in 6 weeks of swimming lessons in cold water. Plus there were two other "grandmas" swimming in the pool who seemed to want to get in on the "swimming lesson" as well!

Alien Invasion

We experienced an alien invasion this afternoon. They might LOOK like Teletubbies - but they're NOT, because their mother doesn't like Teletubbies. She thinks these little purple and yellow aliens, however, are adorable :). Grandma Betty surprised the boys (who rarely spend time as themselves these days) with more dress up clothes. Imaginations run wild here. In appreciation, the aliens attacked grandma. Thanks alot.

It's so nice having grandma around!!!! As I sit on my duff feeding a baby, she keeps the boys entertained baking cookies! I could get used to this.... the mommy needs a mommy, too!

snow??????

Not THREE days ago, it was near 80 degrees here. Rob picked me up from the hospital in SHORTS. Today - lake effect snow. Crazy. How's a person supposed to dress from day to day up here?

Superheros with their Supergrandma

It's nice having Grandma Betty here. She makes a GREAT "bad guy" for super-heroing. And not such a bad "ladder" for apple-picking, either! A superhero just needs to be careful about burrs when saving the day through the woods.... poor ColbyMan!

We're HOOOOME!

A little recap of the first three days of life of Reagan Anne Aho.....

A birthday party! Cake, four year old boys, and small hospital rooms made for an ... interesting... combination. They locked themselves in the bathroom and started stripping to take a shower before being forced out. One visit to the hospital was PLENTY for everyone - the boys could wait until Reagan was home before seeing her again :).

Sunbathing at Portage Hospital Resort. A gal has to look good for her first time home. Her color changed from pink to yellow and back to pink after 24 hours under the light.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY REAGAN!!!

We had a surprise visitor this morning!!! Reagan Anne Aho was born at 2:30 am, weighing 5 pounds 11 ounces, and 17.5 inches long. Apgars: 8 and 9. Color: pink :). She's got a head full of black fuzzy hair, and is incredibly sedate! We heard her cry at birth, and not a peep since then....
