The Hazards Of Snowboarding

Snowboarding has its hazards.  Poor Colbyman.  He knocked himself out cold while coming down the mountain (luckily wearing a helmet), and then had a headache and blurry vision for awhile afterwards.  He wanted to try one.more.run. before we left, though, and..... face plant.  Poor kid.  His face is a little worse for wear, but ski patrol said that he most likely didn't do any permanent brain damage.  UGH UGH UGH.

Ski Flying

It's been a pretty cloudy winter so far, which is not  conducive to winter flying.  We finally caught a six hour glimpse of the sun this past Friday, so Dad took advantage and did a little tour.  He landed on Portage Lake and picked Quinn up for a ride, too.  Oh, how this Daddy loves to fly.    Scares a few ice-fishermen in the process, but... c'est la vie!

Skiing again

Weekends in the winter of 2015 will be spent at the ski hill.  While Quinn and I had our date, Dad took the rest of the family back to the slopes.  Reagan is getting pretty darn good on the skis, although she still enjoys her warm up time in front of a roaring fire. 

Mommy Quinn Day

Thinking back, I could not remember a time when JUST Quinn and I spent a day together.  The other two kids have had their fair share of "alone time" with Mom, but Quinn?  I just don't remember it happening.  Which is sad.  I asked Quinn if he remembered a time, and he said something about riding his bike with me when I went for a jog maybe 4 years ago.  Pathetic. So a Mommy/Quinn date was HIGHLY overdue. 

Just so happens I won tickets to the "Hoop Zone" MTU girls AND boys basketball games.  VIP seats, with free pizza, drinks and snacks included.  SCORE! 

We had a little extra time, so Quinn and I hit the library first - which is always a dangerous proposition, because we end up leaving with ALOT of books, and then just want to read instead of watch basketball.  But we tore ourselves away from the pile, and enjoyed MTU Huskies dual victories.

We need Mommy/Quinn dates more often.  They're a lot of fun.

Feast of the Epiphany

On this 12th Night, we celebrated the Epiphany with Star-shaped calazones, and our version of King Cake!  Christmas..... is officially over. 

 

 

 

Gingerbread House

So, it's kind of a little tradition of ours to make gingerbread houses AFTER Christmas, when the kits are 75% off.  My kids don't care if their cookies are a little stale, as long as they are full of sugar.  Well, this year, when we opened the kit, all the cookies were BROKEN, as well as being stale.  We could've put a ton of time and effort into piecing the thing together with frosting, but that seemed a little pointless, when all the kids really wanted to do was eat the thing  So that's what they did.  Slathered frosting and candy all over broken shards of gingerbread, and woofed down.  It worked.
