Summer Saturday

The boys and I went blueberry picking this morning, as it was "opening day" of blueberry season. The berries were abundant, and both children did WONDERFUL for the first 45 minutes or so. Interest soon began to wane, however, and so Quinn latched on to a fellow blueberry picker - a complete stranger, but a very "grandmotherly" looking lady. They followed her around for a full 30 minutes, pestering her constantly with questions. "What are you doing? What's your name? Why do you like blueberries? Are you a boy or a girl? Wow! My mom is a girl, too!" Luckily, the lady was a kind soul and very patient with incessant 4 year olds. I had trouble tearing them away from her (only with reminders of the birthday party we were about to attend would they agree to leave!) They promised to meet her there next year as they were leaving.

Then it was off to help Aunt Dorothy celebrate her 81st birthday. Aunt Andrea made a delicious cake, and we topped it off with homemade blueberry icecream.
